Izumo Hinomisaki Lighthouse
Izumo Hinomisaki Lighthouse on a cliff at the westernmost of the Shimane Peninsula was established in 1903. The distance is 63.30 m from the sea surface to the light of the light tower.
The tower height of the lighthouse is 43.65 m from the ground to the tower top, the tallest stone lighthouse in Japan.
The pure white outer wall of hard stone quarried in Mihonoseki Town, Matsue City, and the inner wall of brick have a special dual structure with a space between the outer and inner walls.
The luminous intensity of 480,000 candela reaches about 40 km offshore at night. The light has still actively protected the safety of the sea for over 100 years of age.
