  • Inage Sengen Shrine

    The origin of Inage Sengen Shrine is said to be from the year 808, when the spirit of the deity enshrined at Fujisan Hongu Sengentaisha was divided and re-enshrined at its current location. The shrine is familiar to local people as an ancient shrine for worshiping Mt. Fuji, and it has also been revered by people inside and outside of the prefecture for providing benefit of easy delivery and child rearing. The old pine tree planted within the precincts, which is designated as a natural monument of Chiba City, is one of the famous spots in the city. Together with the adjacent Inage Park, the location presents a beautiful landscape retaining the coastal features. The Juniza-Kagura dance passed down by "Inage Sengen Shrine Kaguraren" has been registered as an intangible folk-cultural property of Chiba prefecture.

This "Chiba City Yukari no Ie Inage (Former Pujie Residence) is one of them and has been registered as a tangible cultural property of Chiba City. Pujie, the younger brother of Aisin-Giro Puyi, the last Emperor of China, lived here with his wife for about six months from 1937 right after their marriage.
